Sorry zaxxon.
Filesystems "/", "/usr", "/var", "/opt" are always jfs, NO jfs2.
It's TRUE for AIX 6.1 and older.(Maybe since 3.1, I don't know)
only for 32bit kernel. sorry

No, I don't agree with that. All our AIX 5.3 boxes have jfs2 as default FS:
Code:
$> lsfs
Name Nodename Mount Pt VFS Size Options Auto Accounting
/dev/hd4 -- / jfs2 1048576 -- yes no
/dev/hd1 -- /home jfs2 2097152 -- yes no
/dev/hd2 -- /usr jfs2 8912896 -- yes no
/dev/hd9var -- /var jfs2 2097152 -- yes no
/dev/hd3 -- /tmp jfs2 2621440 -- yes no
/proc -- /proc procfs -- -- yes no
/dev/hd10opt -- /opt jfs2 2883584 -- yes no
/dev/cd0 -- /cdrom cdrfs -- ro no no
/dev/csd_lv -- /var/adm/csd jfs2 524288 rw yes no

And we did nothing special afaik that it used jfs2 instead of jfs at installation time. I can't tell you since which version this came, but I am sure it is that way. Why use the old jfs when there is jfs? Especially for 6.1 where jfs2 is out on the market for that long time. Makes no sense to me.

Of course you right. Only you must have 64bit kernel.
Sorry.

Hey, no need to be sorry - you made me notice that we have only 64bit kernels active at all our boxes so I would not have noticed anything else Smilie
