we are using TPM in our company for all installations and patching ... but not automated - you task it to upgrade certain systems with certain patches - and than it upgrades your systems. TPM keeps track about your patchlevels and has the capability to scan your boxes against certain thresholds. Basically it is nothing more than an enhanced frontend for the nimserver(s), that allows you to install and track additional packages, logs errors and progress and mails you the outcome.

I use suma and NIM combined. I have suma daily download patches into an extra lpp_source defined for the job and then I can apply any required patches to any required LPAR very quickly without having to rumage on the net.
