Operating Systems AIX Problem with vacpp.ndi in XL C/C++ 10

The output appears to be as expected. Two things to try:
a) open the .toc with an editor and check the vacpp.ndi paragraph for the prerequisites. Maybe you get the information that is missing from your logfile output. Content of the .toc should look about like this
Code:
vacpp.ndi 4 R I vacpp.ndi {[...]
[
*instreq <somefileset> <somefileset version number>
[...]
%
[...]

Secondly I see that you use the .toc file from the installation source. Move it to .toc.ori and create a new .toc file with
Code:
# cd /ietnfs/aix/rootinst/xlc10/usr/sys/inst.images/
<remove .toc before you run the following command>
# inutoc .

Hi, I already had a look at that... briefly abd have already tried the "inutoc ." command, to no avail.

Here's the snip from the current .toc (.toc.orig not saved Smilie )

Code:
vacpp.ndi 4 R I vacpp.ndi {
vacpp.ndi 10.01.0000.0000 1 N U en_US IBM XL C/C++ Non-Default Installation Script
[
*coreq perl.rte 5.5.3.0
>0 {
   *coreq vacpp.tnb 10.1.0.0
   *coreq vacpp.licAgreement 10.1.0.0
   *coreq vacpp.beta 10.1.0.0
}

I have also checked on the IBM website for known issues. None found. I have also checked for an updated version of the download TAR file. There are PTF's but no new TAR file.

I re-read your post and noticed the "remove .toc" comment, so I did this and then compared .toc against .toc.old, no significant difference.

I think I may have cracked it...

Continuing the line of thinking of looking in the .toc file, I noticed the corequisites for vacpp.ndi. I then checked each of these to see if they existed in the TAR file... vacpp.beta is not part of this TAR file and is not already installed.

Assuming this is the cause of the problem, the questions now are

1) Why does the corequisite dependency on vacpp.beta exist, and
2) where do I get vacpp.beta from

Smilie

Good. You found it. Smilie You can now
a) try to manually remove the reference to vacpp.beta and hope that it has no real relevance for vacpp.ndi.
b) get a new vacpp.ndi installable image or a single update to the vacpp.ndi installable image. In either case hopefully the then new created .toc does not refer to the beta fileset.
c) get a complete new package of XL C/C++
For b) and c) you may open a PMR with IBM.

Are you suggesting using vi against the .toc file? I am willing to give this a go...

Yes.

Another hint related do b) and c): given that you are not using the trial version already you might check whether you either find the missing fileset or a different version of vacpp.ndi here: IBM - XL C/C++ for AIX, V10.1 - XL C/C++ for AIX - Software

I tried removing all references to the "beta" fileset from the .toc file using vi, but it still fails with the same output as originally posted.

I am downloading the Tiral package to see what difference that makes. 600Mb to go...

I just had this problem and solved it by manually installing vacpp.licAgreement. Once I did that then vacpp.ndi installed.
