Sorry if i´m asking not properly, but why do you need the logical volume without the FS.?

If you want to reuse it, you can change mount point.

hope this help you.

Removing the fs will also remove the LV. You might want to write down the number of LPs/PPs etc. and just recreate the LV after it has been deleted by deleting the filesystem on top of it.

Afaik there is no command to remove only the fs without the LV.

From the rmfs command's manual page:

Code:
The rmfs command removes a file system. If the file system is a journaled file system
(JFS or JFS2), the rmfs command removes both the logical volume on which the file system
resides and the associated stanza in the /etc/filesystems file.

So for a jfs or jfs2 Logical volume it will always be removed when the filesystem is removed.

If you want to remove the filesystem without the LV disappearing, simply remove the entry for the filesystem in /etc/filesystems.

Padow - that won't remove the file systems - all you would need to do is to export the vg and re-import it again and it will come back.
