Hi,

can some one tell me how to find the ldev number associated with a disk.
Is there any command to know it?

check the attributes of the disk

# lspv
hdisk0 ....
hdisk1 ....

# lsattr -El hdiskX

should give you all the details of the disk

Or do you mean the major / minor numbers?

ls -l /dev | grep hdisk

major / minor are the two before the date, they are in binary but often reported in hex for instance in lvm errpt entries.

To find LDEV number of a disk the command varries with the storage.

for IBM storage
#lsvpcfg

for Hitachi storage
#dlmfdrv

for EMC storage
#powermt display

Thank you for your replies,

But neither

#lsattr -El diskx

is giving me the ldev number ( its giving me the PVID )

The command for IBM storage

#lsvpcfg

its giving command not found. Please can you give me any other command?
