NRPE on AIX 5.3

I have NRPE running on AIX 5.3. Right now I have it running as a stand alone daemon, but I want to configure it to be controlled by inetd. I add the service to the /etc/services file and /etc/inetd.conf, but it will now show up in the list of subservers that I can start in smit. I know I must be missing something, just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

You can do either, or, not both. If you want to be able to start and stop in on demand leave it a standalone service using the SRC like you had previously. If inetd controls it, then inetd controls it and you cannot stop and start it on demand.

If it is in inetd, inetd will start it at initialization time and anytime that inetd is refreshed (refresh -s inetd).
