Memory trouble

Hi All,

I just installed 8GB of Memory in a P550 and when the system booted, it's only showing 4GB (3808MB). How can I get the system to see the other 4?

Do all the dimms show up in the lscfg -vp output?
Is it CoD memory?
Is the memory all compatible?
Is the memory supported at the current firmware level?

Yes the Memory is compatible and yes they all do show up in the output of lscfg -vp. Yes it's all supported.

I've shut the machine down several times and tried different slots for the memory. If I use the HMC I can see the 8GB, but if I execute "prtconf" or "lsattr" the box only sees 3808MB.

How do I add the additional memory to the system profile?

I assume you have a system profile defined on the hmc for your lpar where you assigned the adapters and amount of memory and cpus and everything you want to use? Do a right mouseclick on this profile, and add the additional memory to this profile.
No idea how to do it if you only have the default profile with 'all resources'.
