PHP Aix5.3 "freeze" when mounting newly created fs

Hello,

When I tried to mount /appli21 with smit, the terminal "freezed" (ssh connection still active but always showing the same window, no new telnel or ssh connection allowed) and I had to have the machine restarted to be able to connect again.

I don't know why the OS crash and I am quite afraid to try again to mount the filesystem as I do not want it to go down again.
Can anyone give me a track?

thanks

Hi,

are you using internal disks - do you have any entry in error report?

I would guess that the disk your lv is on has some kind of hardware problems.

Hi,

well no disk related error, only a problem with power supply (which you should have fixed as soon as you can since this can produce very unexpected errors).

Since nothing points to a disk problem, I have really no idea - but I believe you have created your filesystem to be mounted during startup and this did not happen either?

If I would be you - since I assume you don't use your filesystem now - I would drop the filesystem completely (and if its the only one in the volumegroup even the whole VG) and recreate that once more from scratch and see if the error returns.

There is btw a problem with superblocks in AIX 5.3 TL9 - AIX APAR IZ23800 -
you can just try if this might help? If not, open a PMR with IBM and let them investigate your problem.

Kind regards
zxmaus

I'd suggest to try diag command first. Mayby it find something interesting.

Hi all,

When I posted yesterday, the filesystem had not been mounted from after the crach last thursday.

I have tried again to mount the filesystem this morning and it showed no new error, copied a file on it and still ok.
Maybe I should have run fsck on the filesystem before trying to mount it the first time, although the error in the errpt is not disk related...

I think I will follow your advice and start it all again, I need practice anyway.

Thanks again

I deleted my vg and made it all again and everything worked correctly.
diag did not give me more info (or I did not get them from it).
As I have very limited info about the hardware, I will carry on this way...
