That depends. During normal operation the logs will stay small. Start and stop information does not turn out to be a problem for a cluster that is configured correctly. However there are occasions when the logs will grow fast and without limit. To give one example: when a cluster detects problems the clstrmgr.debug file might grow with 1MB per second. If it grows in /var and you don't realise in time that /var is flooded the affected node may be doomed.

Another example: hacmp.out is a seven day rolling log. With current HACMP versions it is rotated on midnight usually. Furthermore new hacmp.log files might turn up on a cluster (re-)start. That leads to that the log files are of different size. When the oldest hacmp.out file is deleted it might appear as if /var has more free space again. However that does not mean anything as the next hacmp.out file might become even bigger than the one that was deleted.

HACMP does not start db2 after failover (db2nodes not getting modified by hacmp)

hi, when I do a failover, hacmp always starts db2 but recently it fails to start db2..noticed the issue is db2nodes.cfg is not modified by hacmp and is still showing primary node..manually changed the node name to secondary after which db2 started immediately..unable to figure out why hacmp is... NAME

       powerd - power manager daemon

SYNOPSIS

       /usr/lib/power/powerd [-n]

       The powerd daemon is started by pmconfig(1M) to monitor system activity and perform an automatic shutdown using the suspend-resume feature.
       When the system is suspended, complete current state is saved on the disk before power is removed.  On  reboot,  the  system  automatically
       starts a resume operation and the system is restored to the same state it was in immediately prior to suspend.

       Immediately prior to system shutdown, the daemon notifies syslogd(1M) of the shutdown, which broadcasts a notification.

       The following option is supported:

       -n       No broadcast mode. The daemon silently shuts down the system without notifying syslogd(1M).
