I don't know if this is going to make difference but i am using solaris 8 intel platform. i download the binary from this link

okay.. this is what i happen
i try to tar -xvf and the file it give and error " directory checksum error"
This is the file i download samba-2.2.2.tar.gz
is this the right file to download for solaris 8. Thank you so much for your help, thanks again
