boot problems
Here is another scenario.
If you have a CD with the OS on it, you can boot from the CD and that will allow you to bring the box up.
Once you are in multi user mode, then you can copy the passwd file from the CD to your system.
If you can't boot from a CD, then you will have to reload the OS and restore from backups that I hope you have made recently.
This is all that I can suggest for your situation, unless Neo's suggestion will work.
Hopefully you can boot from a CD, like you can with Windows and in HP and SUN environments. However, I don't know about SCO UNIX.

I need an alert to be triggered if any filesystem(imagine there are n no of filesystems) reaches more than 90%, it should send an alert to the mailbox stating which filesystem is at what percentage. How can I achieve this in unix?

bootctl [OPTIONS...] status bootctl [OPTIONS...] list bootctl [OPTIONS...] update bootctl [OPTIONS...] install bootctl [OPTIONS...] remove DESCRIPTION
bootctl checks, updates, installs or removes the boot loader from the current system. bootctl status checks and prints the currently installed versions of the boot loader binaries and all current EFI boot variables. bootctl list displays all configured boot loader entries. bootctl update updates all installed versions of systemd-boot, if the current version is newer than the version installed in the EFI system partition. This also includes the EFI default/fallback loader at /EFI/BOOT/BOOT*.EFI. A systemd-boot entry in the EFI boot variables is created if there is no current entry. The created entry will be added to the end of the boot order list. bootctl install installs systemd-boot into the EFI system partition.
