I've search this forum and find this problem could have been solved by,
grep -ho "num=*" input_data
The input_data is,
1\11\num1=100\num2=200\newnum1=220\\@
however, what I have got is ,
num1=100

how to get the exact string, (4 Replies)
I'm attempting to perform an exact match on an input data column with another input file but cannot figure out how to code the "grep" statement to handle 2 specific scenarios. I’m capturing the first column of data from $ifile2 into variable $rule and using it to perform a “grep” on $ifile3 to... (4 Replies)
Hi
This time I'm trying to grep for an exact match
e.g
cat.dog.horse.cow.bird.pig
horse.dog.pig
pig.cat.horse.dog
horse
dog
dog
pig.dog
pig.dog.bird
how do I grep for dog only so that a wc -l would result 2 in above case.
Thanks in advance

FILE:
#test file#
server1 10.1.1.1
server2 10.1.1.2
server2-prv 10.1.1.3
grep -w "server2" {filename}
Returns:
server2 10.1.1.2
server2-prv 10.1.1.3
How would you just get it to return just the exact match line?:
server2 10.1.1.2
Thanks! (4 Replies)

Write to FILE instead of standard output.
-l LENGTH
Limit line length to LENGTH.

-num INTERVAL
Prefix output lines with the corresponding line number from the input, skipping INTERVAL lines between each time a prefix is added.
An interval of 1 will ensure that every line is prefixed.

Replace the TeX code used to set the size of the line numbers. The default is footnotesize.

vhdl VHDL description
This manual page was written for the Debian operating system because the original program does not have a manual page.
EXAMPLES
Say you want to format a Java source file. Just type:
texifyjava < input.java > output.tex
You can also format the output of some program without storing its output in a temporary file. If you want to format the output of a Post-
greSQL database dump, just type:
pg_dump foobar | texifysql > output.tex
