Please HELP this stupid lady!!
Hello to all. When you are finished laughing, could somebody PLEASE tell me how to completely uninstall the free bsd operating system from my other computer? My dear, dear Hungarian friend (who is a 'Unix-nut') installed it several months ago, and now that computer is sitting unused in a house with 3 children and lots of homework. 
My two younger kids will barely touch it, and I don't want to use it, either; I really dislike the lack of compatibility for most of the things I use a computer for. (Goofing off.) And now, the funny part: I DO NOT KNOW MY OWN ROOT PASSWORD! 
Janos laughs it off when I tell him I want it; he is kseriously kobsessed with unix and Linux. Yet, he says he doesn't have time to finish building it. That's why it still is no good for too many things. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you.

I am trying to tar file to a local tape drive using tar cf /dev/rmt/0cn ./directory
The process appears to run and I can see activity on the tape drive, but, then I use tar t /dev/rmt/0cn but I do not see anything there.

Has anybody come across the situation when after openning the cover of HP9000 the PC will not start. We checked everything but did not manage to find any solution to that. The PS seems to be functionning (at lease we can hear it clicking). Please help us solving the problem.
