I put this here because it is a 'behavior' type question..
I seem to remember doing ls .* and getting all the .-files, like
.profile
.login
etc.
But ls .* doesn't do that, it lsts the contents of every .*-type subdirectory.
Is it supposed to?

Somewhat long story:
I have a simple Perl CGI script that uses Expect to Telnet to a device and grab some data, and then spits it back to Perl for display on the Webpage.
This works for many devices I've tried, but one device just fails, it keeps rejecting the password on this device, only... (1 Reply)

Echo is removing extra blank spaces. See the command.
export INSTALLDIR=”First Second /Two Space”
echo $INSTALLDIR
out put: First Second /Two Space
Here only on blnak space is present while with command
Echo “$INSTALLDIR”
Out put: ”First Second /Two Space”

Hi,
I have Sun SPARC Enterprise T5140 with two 2,5" 15rpm 146GB SAS HDD. In friday there were a lot of errors with fs on them. After reconfiguring all seemed to be fine but today I get the following strange behavior of df -kh command and troubles with files, I written on first disk in friday.... (9 Replies)

I was writing one script which includes to switch to the another telnet automatically from the present telnet server. I was using rlogin but firstly it takes the same user name of the present telnet and secondly it is prompting for the password.

Currently I run a number of network tests using netcat that checks for an open port on a remote IP-address, using this syntax:
netcat -v -w 5 -z 107.249.95.5 4488

q Pointer to a STREAMS queue. mp Pointer to message block being passed into queue. DESCRIPTION
put() calls the put procedure ( put(9E) entry point) for the STREAMS queue specified by q, passing it the message block referred to by mp. It is typically used by a driver or module to call its own put procedure. CONTEXT
put() can be called from a STREAMS module or driver put or service routine, or from an associated interrupt handler, timeout, bufcall, or esballoc call-back. In the latter cases, the calling code must guarantee the validity of the q argument. Since put() may cause re-entry of the module (as it is intended to do), mutexes or other locks should not be held across calls to it, due to the risk of single-party deadlock (put(9E), putnext(9F), putctl(9F), qreply(9F)). This function is provided as a DDI/DKI conforming replacement for a direct call to a put procedure. SEE ALSO
