solaris 10 wireless network setup
I installed solaris 10 x86 on my dell laptop on a partition alongside windows xp. I am able to connect to the internet in xp with both my ethernet local area connection as well as through my wireless network card. But, however i do not have clue as to how to go about it in solaris.
i did not get dhcp screen when installing solaris ( my wireless network was on then). Then i again tried reinstalling, when connected to LAN through the ethernet card. Again, i did not get the dhcp option while installing.
my ethernet card is Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller
my wireless card is intel(r) pro/wireless 2200bg network connection.
i have the ip address of the router, dns address 1 & 2 and other data.
can you guys help me setup my solaris system to access the network. is there any free downloadable software for solaris which would help setup and monitor the network. my current wireless network has WEP protection.
thanks

ifcfg-wireless
IFCFG(5) Network configuration IFCFG(5)
NAME
ifcfg-wireless - wireless LAN network interface configuration
SYNOPSIS
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-*
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-type-wlan
GENERAL
Wireless networks need some additional configuration data compared to ethernet ones. Therefore additional variables for ifcfg files were
introduced. All wireless LAN specific variables are described in the ifcfg template file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg.template. It is pos-
sible to configure more than one wireless network accepted for association. To achieve this add suffix _1 to all wireless variables for the
second network, _2 for the this, and so on. Example: WIRELESS_ESSID_1="second_net" You can have up to ten wireless networks configured.
Some wireless variables are not applicable to a single wireless network but are global to the interface. The description of the variable
points this out.
