I'm trying to write a script using the 'find' command and it's -exec option to run a compound command against the files found.
Example:
find . -name "*.conf" -exec cat {} | grep "#" > /tmp/comments.list \;

I am writing a Bash script that will either clone a database or setup a standby database. So Parameter 2 will be the operation type. If the value is not clone or standby I want to throw an error message. I suppose I can also do a case block. So far i have been unable to get the syntax working... (1 Reply)

if !{( $a > "" || $b > "" )} { .......
where a and b are string vars.
and this works instead:
if {!( $a > "" || $b > "" )} { ........

Here is my problem using KSH
I have a set of compound variables, let say cmp_var1 cmp_var2
The names of these variables are stored in an indexed array.
How can I access the subfields of these compound variables ?
I tried:
set -A cmp_varnames=(cmp_var1 cmp_var2)

gst-complete-0.8 enables bash to provide context-sensitive tab completion for gst-launch command lines. See gst-launch(1) for the syntax of gst-launch command lines. You must have a version of bash that supports programmable completion. Such versions of bash provide the complete built-in command. gst-complete is a wrapper script that runs the latest installed version of gst-complete-X.X. For example, if both gst-complete-0.7 and gst- complete-0.8 are installed on your system, gst-complete runs gst-complete-0.8. OPTIONS
