He wants something to run before shutting down - that means he wants a K script - that is why I stated the difference between S and K - he stated he wanted to see execution BEFORE shutting down - naming the script S10test, would cause him to see execution AFTER shutdown on reboot.

I have Oracle 9i R2 on AIX 5.2. My Database is running in shared server mode (MTS).

Hi all,
I'm writing a script to stop & start oracle:
su - oracle -c "sqlplus / as sysdba" -c "shutdown immediate">> ${log} 2>&1
The {log} refers to the log file. The part in bold gives error:
/usr/sbin/shutdown: Only root can run /usr/sbin/shutdown
Pls suggest how to correct this.

NAME
script - make record of a terminal session
SYNOPSIS
script [-a] [filename]
DESCRIPTION
The script utility makes a record of everything printed on your screen. The record is written to filename. If no file name is given, the
record is saved in the file typescript. See WARNINGS.
The script command forks and creates a sub-shell, according to the value of $SHELL, and records the text from this session. The script ends
when the forked shell exits or when Control-d is typed.
OPTIONS
The following option is supported:
-a Appends the session record to filename, rather than overwriting it.
NOTES
script places everything that appears on the screen in filename, including prompts.
