You can save the unnecessary calls to the cp command.
Keeping
month="dec nov oct sep aug jul jun may apr mar feb jan",
and changing this line
[[ -f "$file" ]] && cp $file $FILE && break;
to
[[ -f "$file" ]] && cp $file $FILE && exit 0;
