Netstat
Giving netstat command on the prompt gives commands such as
localhost.43592 localhost.35237 32768 0 32768 0 TIME_WAIT
localhost.43594 localhost.43595 32768 0 32768 0 TIME_WAIT
localhost.43598 localhost.35237 32768 0 32768 0 TIME_WAIT
localhost.43600 localhost.43601 32768 0 32768 0 TIME_WAIT
localhost.43604 localhost.35237 32768 0 32768 0 ESTABLISHED
localhost.35237 localhost.43604 32768 0 32768 0 ESTABLISHED
loc...etc
What are these connections anyway ....
How do i know wat these ports are doin .....
Will closing these ports do any harm

cbp031.904 wdcprodhome.nfsd 98304 0 49640 0 ESTABLISHED
The only thing i recognize is the unix machine "cbp031" but what is .904 and all the other data telling me?

In my project we use sftp with batch mode (password less) script in parallel for 14 sessions which connects to 2 different servers alternatively i.e. 7 connects to one server say server1 and the other 7 connects to say server 2.

SYNOPSIS
mongo [OPTIONS] [DB_ADDRESS] [FILE+]
DESCRIPTION
mongo is a JavaScript shell (with GNU readline capabilities). It supports interactive and non-interactive use. When used interactively,
JavaScript can be used to query the database or perform any other function normally available with SpiderMonkey. Database output is dis-
played in JSON format.
If JavaScript files are specified on the command line, the shell will run non-interactively, running each one in sequence and then exiting.
EXAMPLES
mongo start the shell, connecting to the server at localhost:27017 and using the test database
mongo foo
start the shell using the foo database at localhost:27017
mongo 192.169.0.5/foo
start the shell using the foo database at 192.169.0.5:27017
