I've been working with HP-UX for a long time. I have never seen anything like that. Here is the bdf output from two different HP-UX systems:
Can you tell me anything at all about the physical disks involved? One of the system has MirrorDisk/UX installed; and on that system, vg00 is mirrored. Which system? The HP-UX /dev/vg00/lvol1 and the SunOS /dev/md/dsk/d2 are actually rather close in concept. In both cases you need another command to trace back to the physical disk. Now looking at the SunOS "df -k" output...
the main difference that strikes me is "capacity" verses "%used".
Can someone point me at resources for system calls? Specifically, I am trying to make sense of what I am seeing in a truss command. Thanks! (3 Replies)

Can someone explain the correlation between how sar names the disk drives and how the rest of the OS names the disk drives?
sar lists my disk drives as sd0, sd1, sd2, etc.....

lvremove
LVREMOVE(8) System Manager's Manual LVREMOVE(8)NAME
lvremove - remove a logical volume
SYNOPSIS
lvremove [-A|--autobackup y|n] [-d|--debug] [-f|--force] [-h|-?|--help] [-t|--test] [-v|--verbose] LogicalVolumePath [LogicalVolumePath...]
DESCRIPTION
lvremove removes one or more logical volumes. Confirmation will be requested before deactivating any active logical volume prior to
removal. Logical volumes cannot be deactivated or removed while they are open (e.g. if they contain a mounted filesystem). Removing an
origin logical volume will also remove all dependent snapshots.
If the logical volume is clustered then it must be deactivated on all nodes in the cluster before it can be removed. A single lvchange com-
mand issued from one node can do this.
OPTIONS
See lvm(8) for common options.
-f, --force
Remove active logical volumes without confirmation.
EXAMPLES
Remove the active logical volume lvol1 in volume group vg00 without asking for confirmation:
lvremove -f vg00/lvol1
Remove all logical volumes in volume group vg00:
lvremove vg00
