Question Read SQL database from Unix...

Hi there,

I am new here and looking for a bit of help... I don't don't know much about Unix but I've tried to include as much info as possible.

We currently operate our system as a bespoke on SCO 5.05 with Informix databases. This includes a financials package called "Multisoft".

Both reside on our Unix box and any update is via a flat file transfer (ie for invoice posting) or shared tables.

We are now at the point where Multisoft can no longer be supported so we are switching to Sage Line 500 (SQL Database) - but this will be on a Windows 2003 box networked to the Unix environment.

I am pretty confident that the flat file transfer will work ok, but a problem will arise where programs on the Unix box currently validate details (eg customer credit limits) against the shared tables (some of these will now be on Windows).

Esssentially, what I would l like to know is if it is possible for our unix programs to read the new SQL databases as before either directly or via an a data driver?

Many thanks for your help.
