daemon
Hi ,
By making a script a daemon ,if u mean that u want to run it as a backgroung process the u can run it as :
scriptname &
and if u want the script should run even after the unix session has been logged off then u can use it like :
nohup scriptname &
I hope this makes it clear , if any other way is possible please someone post a reply to this.

I've written a script that runs on a Database server. It has to shutdown the Application server, do an Oracle Dump and then restart the Application server. Hi all,
I have set up a cron job which calls another shell script shell script which in turn calls a Java process. The cron tab looks so.
0,30 7-18 * * 1-5 /u01/home/weblogic/brp/bin/checkstatus.sh >> /u01/home/weblogic/logs/checkstatus.log
The checkstatus.sh scripts looks like this.

NAME
script - make record of a terminal session
SYNOPSIS
script [-a] [filename]
DESCRIPTION
The script utility makes a record of everything printed on your screen. The record is written to filename. If no file name is given, the
record is saved in the file typescript. See WARNINGS.
The script command forks and creates a sub-shell, according to the value of $SHELL, and records the text from this session. The script ends
when the forked shell exits or when Control-d is typed.
OPTIONS
The following option is supported:
-a Appends the session record to filename, rather than overwriting it.
NOTES
script places everything that appears on the screen in filename, including prompts.
