Hi,
c=`awk -F"|" '{ print NF }' file1`
if test $c -gt 1
then
echo "More than one field"
fi
In The statement above: The awk command always returns 2 (more than 1).
My file looks something like:
05211_71_014|
C05226|
C05010_05|
C210_61_098|
C05202_02_022|
Any thoughts what might be wrong in the above statement.

I know how to check if any file has a unix process using a file by looking at 'lsof <fullpath/filename>' command.
I think using lsof is very expensive. Also to make it accurate we need to inlcude fullpath of the file.
