You will need to load the module into the kernel. the command is insmod.
Can read more on this by reading the manual, man insmod.
May want to see if the program modprobe works.

I am running CentOS 6.5 and I want to remove auto loading 8021q and garp modules, but there are no configure files in /etc/modprobe.d define bot modules.
