uname -a will show you this information plus a fair bit more.
man uname
The "which" command shows you which executable will be executed when you enter the command into your shell.
For example, "which ls" could give /bin/ls - showing you that when you enter "ls" at your prompt, /bin/ls is executed. "which" only searches directories specified in your PATH environment variable.
Also, be aware that UNIX is case sensitive!

Displays the aliases using the specified dbm file instead of the system aliases file.
OPERANDS
The alias name to find. If no aliases are given, then the entire contents of the dbm file are displayed.
