The local fibre channel card has a WWN. Seeing that would like an ifconfig. You want to do the equivalent of a seeing a remote host's mac address. I only know for sure how to do this with HP-UX.

fcmsutil /dev/td0
fcmsutil /dev/td0 get remote all

The former will show the local WWN, the latter the remote WWN. (Both commands show a bunch more stuff as well.)

The driver is guaranteed to have the information or it won't work. Any reasonable driver will have an ioctl() to suck the data out. Any reasonable OS will have a utility to display it.

But over on a SunOS 5.9 box, I'm not sure how to do it. fcmsutil is not found. I *think* that "prtconf -v" is doing it. It is definately displaying what looks like a WWN, but I don't see any docs confirming this.

[edit]
Upon further review, prtconf -v is working. It displays the data a second time and here it is labelled "node-wwn".
