I think that you will have to use sendmail instead of mailx to send inline html, e.g....
Code:
#!/usr/bin/ksh

export MAILTO="me@work"
export CONTENT="filename.out"
export SUBJECT="Subject"
(
 echo "Subject: $SUBJECT"
 echo "MIME-Version: 1.0"
 echo "Content-Type: text/html"
 echo "Content-Disposition: inline"
 echo '<HTML><BODY><PRE>'
 cat $CONTENT
 echo '</PRE></BODY></HTML>'
) | /usr/sbin/sendmail $MAILTO
