Echo display alignment/sort order

Hi,
My script prints a few varibales as each it reads each line of a text file and then prints them on screen, however iam having problem in aligning and sorting them.

what happens is this

Last First Number
Mark leo 87798798
Andrew rodgers 23789779

i want them all to be aligned accordingly. Also data should be sorted say number 2378 for andrew should come first. I am not displaying a simple text file. This outcome is as the text file is being read and each line is processed . For output this is what iam using :

echo -n "$Last $First $Number"

Hi I'm trying to display the output of my script in a friendly viewable format. it's something like this.. i have this while loop... in which i get some records from a file where fields are delimitered with a pipe. so i'm extacting each field and replacing the pipe with a \t, tab !!.. cat... replacing characters in order to sort

hi, i want to rename all the file names in order so that they can be sorted later. For example, my filenames are like path\1, path\2...path\10, path\11. I am converting mainframes JCL to be used in shell on a one to one basis... when i use the sort command unix does ascii sort as a result which numbers are first followed by charecters in the Ascending sort ... but themainframes uses the EBCDIC as result gives the charecters followed by numbers in... PSLAEVSWP moves the eigenvectors (potentially unsorted) from where they are computed, to a ScaLAPACK standard block cyclic array, sorted so that the corresponding eigenvalues are sorted. Notes ===== Each global data object is described by an associated description vector. This vector stores the information required to establish the mapping between an object element and its corresponding process and memory location. Let A be a generic term for any 2D block cyclicly distributed array. Such a global array has an associated description vector DESCA. In the following comments, the character _ should be read as "of the global array". NOTATION STORED IN EXPLANATION --------------- -------------- -------------------------------------- DTYPE_A(global) DESCA( DTYPE_ )The descriptor type. In this case, DTYPE_A = 1. CTXT_A (global) DESCA( CTXT_ ) The BLACS context handle, indicating the BLACS process grid A is distribu- ted over. The context itself is glo- bal, but the handle (the integer value) may vary. LLD_A >= MAX(1,LOCr(M_A)). Let K be the number of rows or columns of a distributed matrix, and assume that its process grid has dimension p x q. LOCr( K ) denotes the number of elements of K that a process would receive if K were distributed over the p processes of its process col- umn. Similarly, LOCc( K ) denotes the number of elements of K that a process would receive if K were distributed over the q processes of its process row. The values of LOCr() and LOCc() may be determined via a call to the ScaLAPACK tool function, NUMROC: LOCr( M ) = NUMROC( M, MB_A, MYROW, RSRC_A, NPROW ), LOCc( N ) = NUMROC( N, NB_A, MYCOL, CSRC_A, NPCOL ). The eigenvectors are distributed in a block cyclic manner in both dimensions, with a block size of NB.
