Yeah a null modem cable connected to the "A" serial port will work for you to configure your 280r.

I think that you are thinking os a serical adapter that has a RJ-45 connection on it to make a "pig tail". that works also. I have the pin outs for the adapter ifyou need them, but the null modem cable to a PC will work fine.

replacing root disk SunFire 280R

Hi, We had a disk go bad in this SunFire 280R, running Solaris 8 - Generic_117350-46. We replaced the disk and partitioned it. SunFire 280R maintenance LED is on and no display

I got the system couple of days back from one of my friend. Last night I turned it on and I noticed that maintenance LED is on. amtterm - Intel AMT serial-over-lan (sol) client. SYNOPSIS
amtterm [ options ] host [ port ] DESCRIPTION
amtterm provides access to the serial-over-lan port of Intel AMT managed machines. host is the hostname or IP address of the machine amt- term should connect to. port is the tcp port to use and defaults to 16994 (standard AMT redirection port) if unspecified.
