FreeBSD 5.1 update?
1. I`ve installed FreeBSD 5.1 on my pc. And now want to update this system to FreeBSD 5.2 How can I do this?
2. Many times I heard about updating kernel. How can I update it, and where shall I download it? My friend told me that kernel from
www.kernel.org is only for Linux.
3. plz, explain me the meaning of the ports in FreeBSD. And what is it. Because I can`t understand

Hello there,
My mulithreaded application (which is too large to represent the source code here) is crashing after installing FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE/amd64.
It worked properly on others machines (Dual Cores with 4GB of RAM - FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE/i386).

A new application require it to be on update 6.
What is the best way to make it update 6.
should i just install the patch or should i go for the liveupgrade??

Is it possible to "upgrade" Sol10 update 9 to update 10 by booting from the DVD? I had never even tried this until a user asked me to do it, so i tried and it just hung there after the part where it reads the rules.ok file.
Is this even possible to upgrade? or does it have to be a new install.

Right I have a MYSQL database with table1 with 3 columns, colA, colB and colC. I want to combine the data in the 3 columns into a 4th column names col_comb. Here's the SQL command that works:
UPDATE table1 SET `col_comb` = CONCAT( `colA` , ' - ', `colB` , ', ', `colC` );

NAME
update-mime-database - a program to build the Shared MIME-Info database cache
SYNOPSIS
update-mime-database -h | -v | [ -V | -n ] MIME-DIR
DESCRIPTION
update-mime-database is a program which is responsible for updating the shared mime-info cache according to the system described in the
Shared MIME-Info Database specification <http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/shared-mime-info-spec> from the X Desktop Group.
OPTIONS
-h Print out a command summary.
-v Print out the version information.
-V Be verbose.
-n Only update if MIME-DIR/packages/ or a file in that directory is newer than MIME-DIR/version. This is useful for package pre- and
post-installation scripts.
ARGUMENTS
MIME-DIR
This is the directory for which update-mime-database should rebuild the cache. Mandatory if none of the options is provided.
