DNS problem

Hello!

I´ve got a problem with the dns on one of our servers.

When i try to look someting up with either nslookup or ping i get the folowing error message.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# nslookup sun.com
*** Can't find server name for address 127.0.0.1: Unspecified error
*** Default servers are not available
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my resolve.conf is pointing at my dns servers and the nsswitch.conf file includes both files and dns. Does anyone know where the error might be?

Hello again I having a wired problem if use nslookup to check some changes that I made to the blackhole list.First I'll check a site that I know has access throught our sever and it would time out. I have a standalone PC running Debian 6. DNS stopped working suddenly. I haven't changed anything. Email works because it has the ip address of the mail server. nsquery - query the Name Service Switch backend libraries SYNOPSIS
lookup_type lookup_query [lookup_policy] DESCRIPTION
is used to find the Name Service that returned the response to a or function call. This application is Name Service Switch aware and fol- lows the lookup policies in The supported lookup_type values are: Used to resolve host name or IP Address lookups. Used to resolve user name or UID lookups. Assumes that a numeric value is a UID. This option is to be obsoleted. Use and instead. Used to resolve user name lookups. Used to resolve UID lookups.
