I need your help again.
I am using Sun Ultra sparc 60 machine.Follwing are the types of files getting generated in /var/tmp.
"windu_sm_o aaaa,baaa,caaa,daaa" etc.
I am not able to locate which application is generating these files.
Can I straightway delete these files ? or... (1 Reply)
I have a Sun Ultra 10/Solaris 2.7 with a differential SCSI card connected to a Supter DLt1 Tape Drive. When I boot the machine, and I do a probe-scsi-all in the very beginning of the boot process. I have a 2nd hand Sun ultra-5, I wanted to know how to be able to run it as a normal window. I do not have any experience whatsoever with solaris/unix. Does anyone can give me a clue where to start. When I switch it goes to:

Hi, this is parameswar. I have two sun ultra 5/10 workstations processor is sparc IIi 440 and ram is 512 but without hard disk and cdrom so can i use seagate 40Gb and sony dvd writer which is presented in windows pc. Both are IDE cables.

volcheck - checks for media in a drive and by default checks all floppy media
SYNOPSIS
volcheck [-v] [-i secs] [-t secs] pathname
DESCRIPTION
The volcheck utility tells volume management to look at each dev/pathname in sequence and determine if new media has been inserted in the
drive.
The default action is to volcheck all checkable media managed by volume management.
OPTIONS
The following options are supported:
-i secs Set the frequency of device checking to secs seconds. The default is 2 seconds. The minimum frequency is 1 second.
-t secs Check the named device(s) for the next secs seconds. The maximum number of seconds allowed is 28800, which is 8 hours. The fre-
quency of checking is specified by -i. There is no default total time.
-v Verbose.
OPERANDS
The following operands are supported:
pathname The path name of a media device.
EXAMPLES
Example 1 A sample of the volcheck command.

asks volume management to examine the floppy drive for new media.
