Telling us about your system might help. What release of what os running on what hardware?
When I run configure for a different package than bash, I get a config.h in my current directory. And I get a message in config.log that says it did that. What do you see in config.log?
And when you run configure, do you have permission to write in the current directory?

I receive an error while installing Oracle 9i:

I am trying to copy some dirs and files over from one part of my server to the other with groups, owners and permissions so . . .
I am using the command:
install -m <777> -o <owner> -g <group> /<source>/* /<destination>

install-solaris
install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.
The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:
For SPARC machines:
128 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
128 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
384 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
For x86 machines:
256 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
256 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
512 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number of fea-
