To configure a stand alone machine to be on network. You can use sys-unconfig (This is for Solaris). Be careful, if your O.S is less than 2.6 since sometimes it will hang when your are doing this on 2.5.1 or less.
Or you can manually modify those files
(Based on your set up)
/etc/defaultrouter
/etc/defaultdomain
/etc/nodename
/etc/hostname."Interface" (i.e. /etc/hostname.hme0)
/etc/net/hosts* (there are 3 files)
also, check your /etc/nsswitch."xxx" (i.e. /etc/nsswitch.conf or nsswitch.nis...)
