neo is absolutely correct, while all linux distributions make their software available for FREE, when you can you should help contribute to the further development of the software you use. as for my self, i have become an avid fan of SuSE linux, they have come a long way from when i started using linux at their version 6.4, now at 8.2 their distro is 10x better. i would strongly reccomend SuSE linux if you are interested in linux. there are also many other options which have been listed on this thread. good luck, you will hopefully find a unix varient that is right for you.

I am trying to install solaris 8 on intel machine(intel300 mhz,32 mg ram,3.2 hd,24x cd-rom). hardware scaning is ok. Then it ask to enter choice for interactive installation #1 for web #2. After i enter chice system reboot agian and it takes to same screne.

NAME
mountpoint - see if a directory is a mountpoint
SYNOPSIS
mountpoint [-q] [-d] directory
mountpoint -x device
DESCRIPTION
mountpoint checks if the directory is mentioned in the /proc/self/mountinfo file.
OPTIONS
-h, --help
Print help and exit.
-q, --quiet
Be quiet - don't print anything.
-d, --fs-devno
Print major/minor device number of the filesystem on stdout.
-x, --devno
Print major/minor device number of the blockdevice on stdout.
EXIT STATUS
Zero if the directory is a mountpoint, non-zero if not.
