I installed sun solaris 8 for x86 pc, and I want know where is the files of configuration (path), the name of files, and the named of daemon.
example: /etc/named.conf and the zones is /var/named, and the daemon is named....it's in linux system.

anyone ever seen this problem
with /etc/nsswitch.conf forcing the system to look in files then dns
but the system ignores the files and goes off check the dn servers
is there any further config I've missed ???

hey guys, how to add soalris box as a microsoft DNS Client ?
and how to register in the microsoft DNS ??
i managed to query from the DNS server after adding /etc/resolve.conf and editing /etc/nsswitch.conf
but i need to register the soalris server (dns Client) into Microsoft DNS automatically.... (3 Replies)

I personally prefer Windows DNS server for management, it supports GUI and command line. But I am not sure about security... (2 Replies)

Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation, install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.
