1) this /ddev/fd refers to floppy?
2) what is this /proc? besides a filesystem , what special meaning/puposes does it servers.. as i seem to notice that almost every SUN system has this /proc
3) mnttab refers to the mounting table. why is it empty?
4) the two entries of swap meant that a filesystem can be mounted at 2 different directories. at least it appears to be so.. which. my understanding is that a fielsystem can only be mounted at one diretory at any one time. ... swap is recommended to be twice of ram, genearlyl
please teach... my past experiences deals with logical volumes.. and now have to make the adjustment to sun as my organisation just got a sun sever..

well i'm trying to change the ip adress on an old alphaserver runing tru64 4.0F using the
ifconfig hme0 IP_ADDRESS mask MASK broadcast BROADCAST
and when i check it using ifconfig -a it shows the new ip and all is well

I have an NFS file system mounted on one of my AIX servers with "mount -v cifs".. The server from which the file system was mounted has crashed and now my "df -g" output is hanging. Is there any was to unmount this NFS file system? I have tried "umount -f". Doesn't work.
