You have to run mkdev hd.
Make sure you do not format the disk or change any sizes.
In divvy, you have to rename the root partition from hd0root to something else that is not currently used on any hard drive.
Be very careful to not mark this partition as new, as it will be formatted if you do.
Once this is done, you can mount the partition to /oldroot, or some other name.
You must refer to files in the old root file system by their full name, in the case of /etc/shadow, this will be /oldroot/var/opt/SCO/.Unix.6.0.0Ni/etc/shadow.
If you do not, simply referring to /oldroot/etc/shadow, will be linked to /var/opt... in the booted root file system.

I am using Red Hat 2.6.23.1 with RAID 6 controller (card).
(When I use "cat /proc/partitions" I do not see the separate HDDs in the RAID, I see one drive for the RAID itself, as it is considered 1 large drive.)

Description
The file is a simple data base that describes disk geometries and disk partition characteristics. The format is patterned after the termi-
nal data base. Entries in consist of a number of fields separated by colons (:). The first entry for each disk gives the names that are
known for the disk, separated by vertical bars (|). The last name given should be a long name fully identifying the disk.
The following list indicates the normal values stored for each disk entry:
