Here is a copy of the Amazon review I wrote for this Casio PRIZM FX-CG50:

Quote:
As an electrical engineer who works in software engineering, I have used a lot of calculators. The Casio PRIZM FX-CG50 does not have a nice feel in my hands at all. In fact, it feels rough and unrefined, bulky and cheap. I think the design is way too thick, perhaps because of the decision by Casio to run device this on four AAA batteries?

Anyway, I don't like the design in the least (for the money paid). The keyboard is hard to read, the contrast between the functions and the black background is poor, perhaps by design; so this device it is not for me. I also do not like how the FX-CG50 handles errors.

The documentation provided and the PDF online is very poor. Thank goodness for YouTube tutorials (but others, not Casio); but you would think that Casio could create their own very good tutorials; but no they cannot.

The macOS firmware upgrade software for the PRIZM FX-CG50 only works on High Sierra, which is two major releases back. All my main macs run Catalina (I own four Macs, including a 12 core Mac Pro from 2013, a Mac Mini and two MacBook Airs), so you cannot upgrade the PRIZM FX-CG50 software on three of those those four machines. The "good news" is that do happen to have an obsolete MacBook Air (very old MBA) which cannot upgrade past High Sierra, so I had to use that obsolete MBA from my closet to upgrade the firmware! Why Casio only supports High Sierra and not Mojave or Catalina is a total mystery to me! I guess Casio simply does not care about firmware upgrade software for macOS.

If I paid $25 bucks for this, I might expect less; but for the money, I realize I should not have bought this. The Casio PRIZM FX-CG50 is not recommended at all. Sorry to be truthful and honest.

PS: The way the Casio PRIZM FX-CG50 runs Python is not impressive at all.
