I have the following crontab entry to run a shell script for every 30 minutes of every day:
30 * * * * $HOME/main.sh > $HOME/main.log 2>$HOME/error.log
after I created the crontab file I have also done:

Hi,
I have created a pl/sql block utilises dbms_output.put_line. This script works fine when I call from sqlplus ie sqlplus @./scriptname but when I embed it within my shell script I get no output to screen so I end up with an empty spool file. END [ WORK | TRANSACTION ] DESCRIPTION
END commits the current transaction. All changes made by the transaction become visible to others and are guaranteed to be durable if a crash occurs. This command is a PostgreSQL extension that is equivalent to COMMIT [commit(7)]. PARAMETERS
WORK TRANSACTION Optional key words. They have no effect. NOTES
Use ROLLBACK [rollback(7)] to abort a transaction. Issuing END when not inside a transaction does no harm, but it will provoke a warning message. EXAMPLES
