Hi , can anyone please guide me on how do i go about getting the CPU Usage and available free physical and virtual memories?
i know i can get it by using prstat, but i want to get an overall CPU Usage and not a breakdown of all same for the free physical and virtual memories ? (2 Replies)

my dout is a solaris server is having 16 cpu's.
in tht one cpu running some error process, accupaying more space.
I wanna down tht particular CPU only with out interrupting the other 15

i want to know cpu utilizatiion per process per cpu..for single processor also if multicore in linux ..to use these values in shell script to kill processes exceeding cpu utilization.ps (pcpu) command does not give exact values..top does not give persistant values..psstat,vmstat..does njot... Hello Friends,
On one of my Solaris 10 box, CPU usage shows 100% using "sar", "vmstat". However, it has 4 CPUs and prstat and glance are not showing enough processes to justify high CPU utilization.

Got two RHEL servers - one real and one virtual/cloud.
Both run apache web server.
When traffic is applied, CPU seems to go quite high on virtual one (20%) but real is not really affected. Worry is that a further increase in traffic will see a problem.

NAME
vmware2libvirt - vmware vmx to libvirt xml converter
SYNOPSIS
vmware2libvirt [-q] -f FILE
DESCRIPTION
This program outputs a libvirt xml file based on an existing vmware vmx file
OPTIONS
--version
show program's version number and exit
-h, --help
show this help message and exit
-q, --qemu
use qemu instead of kvm
-f FILE, --file=FILE
vmware vmx file to convert
USAGE
To start using a pre-existing vmware image with libvirt, you simply copy the vmware .vmx file and .vmdk file to a new directory. Then do:
vmware2libvirt -f ./file.vmx > file.xml
virsh -c qemu:///system define file.xml
At this point, your vmware image should be available to libvirt.
CAVEATS
vmware2libvirt currently will use the first scsi disk if found, otherwise the first ide disk. It will also use the first ethernet interface
found.
