MacOS 10.15 Catalina Crashes and Freezes on Boot
Sadly, I have turned off my access to the Apple Developers Beta program after installing macOS 10.15 Catalina a few days ago.
After the install, I rebooted by MacBook Air and it "hard froze" and we were heading out of town so I grabbed a backup MBA running Mojave.
Then, after getting back at my desk a few days later, it took me quite some time to recover from the macOS 10.15 Catalina meltdown.
The good news is that it's up and running again with a mid June time machine backup of Mojave.
The bad news is that I cannot trust Apple these days and have removed my Apple ID from the "beta program" until further notice.
Even more good news is that my systems will not be crashing and freezing up on reboot
Anyway, I don't see any new feature in Catalina that is useful for me personally and I like the Mojave visuals better than the Catalina visuals

Hi,
Recently i received a request to rotate logs of catalina.out (tomcat). The file size was about 807 MB. I used logadm to truncate the log ( -c ) and zip (-z 0) it.
Everything worked fine, catalina.out.0.gz was created (22 MB) and the size of original catalina.out became 0kb.

Interestingly Apple has decided to switch the default shell for new users from bash to zsh in MacOS Catalina (10.15)

Just upgraded my MacPro (2013) from Catalina 10.15.2 to 10.15.3.
After the routine download and restart for upgrade installation, the Mac would not boot. Totally crashed.

news - Writes system news items to standard output SYNOPSIS
news [-a|-n|-s] | [item...] The news command keeps you informed of news concerning the system. OPTIONS
Displays all news items, regardless of the currency time. The currency time does not change. Reports the names of current news items without displaying their contents. Each news item is contained in a separate file in the /usr/news directory. Anyone having read/write permission to this directory can cre- ate a news file. If you run the news command without any options, it displays the current files in /usr/news, beginning with the most recent. You can also specify the items you want displayed. Each file is preceded by an appropriate header. To avoid reporting old news, news stores a currency time. The news command considers your currency time to be the modification time of the file named $HOME/.news_time. Each time you read the news, the modification time of this file changes to that of the reading. Only news item files posted after this time are considered current. Pressing the Interrupt key sequence during the display of a news item stops the display of that item and starts the next. Pressing the Interrupt key sequence again ends news.
