Can you do remove core file based on what created them :(

Thanks to all your suggestion.
For the time being, I've moved them to a temp directory and strings them one at a time
. I wish there is a better way of doing. I am trying to check if I can maybe dd a few bytes of the core file maybe that will be show the name of the program. Not sure if it is quicker than having to do strings though.
It's been fun trying out all the suggestion and regex experiments.
The vendor had given instruction to disable said diagnostic script. I believe they've given up on it as well and will be deprecating it.

ie. Say i want to:
mv ./* ./temp/* (where the date created < 29/1/2006 )
or

I am trying to rename files based on the created/born date of the file. I Have a total of 4000 files that i am trying to do this with and would like it to be log_yyyymmddhh.gz right now the files are maillog.???.gz.

gcore - get core images of running processes SYNOPSIS

The command creates a core image of each specified process. By default, the name of the core image file for process-id will be The process information in the core file can be obtained by using debuggers. When the command creates a core image of each specified process, the process is temporarily stopped. Further, when the creation of core image is complete, the process continues to execute. Options Creates the core file with name of the file as If multiple process-id values are specified, filename will be common for all the core image files. See the section. Operands process-id The process ID for which a core image file will be created. RETURN VALUE
Upon completion, exits with one of the following values: A core file was successfully created. An error condition was encountered. In such a case, the creation of a core file is not guaranteed.
