If you are looking to suppress a SPOF then you should head for a mirror, but this only makes sense if you have true physical internal disk
the only other case I see ( which was true for me a while ago...) is because you are on a san that is duplicated ( 2 bays in mirror on 2 different sites...) only now most big bays do that natively...
So if you are not in those configurations alt_clone is the way to go...
The difference ?
in mirror in case of failure you continue to be up and working with the remaining disk.. its transparent but if you forget to replace the disk and it crashes...
alt_clone, is making a clone of that disk, and so you can boot from it but it will be used only on request... e.g. you patch and something goes wrong, you boot on your alternate which is normally in the situation before the patching...

AIX break rootvg mirror from system down

Hello, aix 5.2, mirrored rootvg on hdisk0 and hdisk1. hdisk0 is dead. I can boot to cd, into sms, into maintenance mode. in trying to rectify a stale lv problem I ran rmlvcopy <lv> 1 <primary disk> leaving the original os disk without lv copies other than the stale lv. NAME

       pull-debian-source - download and extract a source package from Debian

SYNOPSIS

       pull-debian-source [options] <source package> [release|version]

DESCRIPTION

       pull-debian-source downloads and extracts the specified version of source package, or the latest version in the specified Debian release.

       pull-debian-source  will  try  the preferred mirror, default mirror, security mirror, and fall back to Launchpad or snapshot.debian.org, in
       search of the requested version.

OPTIONS

       source package
	      The source package to download from Debian.

       release
	      The release to download the source package from. Defaults to unstable.

       version
	      The specific version of the package to download.

       -d, --download-only
	      Do not extract the source package.

       -m DEBIAN_MIRROR, --mirror=DEBIAN_MIRROR
	      Use the specified mirror.  Should be in the  form  http://ftp.debian.org/debian.	 If  the  package  isn't  found  on  this  mirror,
	      pull-debian-source will fall back to the default mirror.

       -s DEBSEC_MIRROR, --security-mirror=DEBSEC_MIRROR
