Echo eval xargs and other siblings

I was hoping that it would be clear from the context that the stdin> is the entrance to the shell. I guess I need to work on the design of the presentation.
It seemed to me funny, for example, "echo" and "eval" commands. Both commands take parameters and do the same work. Only the first returns a string of them to the stdout and the second command to the stdin (shell stdin).
I'v added the feature of Xargs, above noted to my notes.

My script has the following for loop in it.
foreach id (CLKM4 DGTM4 GNNM4)

I'm running some encrypted data through a script I wrote. In order to do this, I'm using eval to resolve some of my variables. So, I'm looking over /proc/cpuinfo and have a question... I've read that "siblings" refers to hyperthreading, but that seems odd considering the contents of cpuinfo. Here's a part:

Hi:
how come this command does not work? the error message is:
xargs: cd: No such file or directory
yet, in the same time, 'echo dir_path | xargs ls' works.
Does it work in bash? We use csh.

my command deletes the oldest file from a folder and I'd like to have some type of output when the file is selected or deleted.
ls -t -1 | tail -n 1 | xargs rm
I'm not sure how to incorporate echo into this.

gpiv_uhisto - Tests PIV data by printing/displaying an histogram of the horizontal particle displacements. SYNOPSIS
gpiv_uhisto [-g] [-h | --help] [-n N] [-p | --print] [-v | --version] [filename] < stdin > stdout DESCRIPTION
Gpiv_uhisto calculates the histogram of the horizontal particle displacement distribution between minimum and maximum values. The parameters read from the configuration resources (containing the key VALID) may be overruled by the command line options, as explained below. Options -g Graphical visualization of the histogram with gnuplot. -h | --help On-line help -n N Override number of bins (default 10, hard coded). -p | --print Print parameters, command line options and eventually used input and output filenames to stdout. The output is identic of file- name.par, in case -f is used. -v | --version Print version information on standard output, then exit successfully. filename Input PIV file. Overrides stdin and stdout. Output will be written to filename.pdf. The parameters will be written or appended to filename.par and may be used for future use by including them in ./gpivrc. SEE ALSO
