Just for fun, and since I now have enough Vue.js experience to track down other Vue.js developers bugs and errors (a bit), I installed this cool science app on our server:
Hello All,
My first post on this forum. I am using cygwin to help me with some routine jobs on my laptop, with tcsh as my shell. I need to copy a set of files from one directory to a network drive every minute. So I have

alias periodic 'cp *.txt /cygdrive/z/Data'

I need to periodically run a check on the passwords of the users (Redhat 5.0) to verify that all passwords meet minimal standards. I remember seeing a script years ago that grabbed the encrypted passwords from the file and checked if they matched any of the encrypted strings in another file, plus... (1 Reply)
Hi,
I have a file that looks like this, the unity of information is composed of four lines, and these extends for millions.
My objective is to remove the highligthed "T".

Hello,
I'm working with putty on Windows 7 professional and I'd like to know if there's a way to gather specific lines from a pre-existing table and make a new table with that information.

Ubuntu wireless has been fine until fresh installation of 12.10. Now, I have periodic drops of the wireless. I can manually disconnect and then reconnect to get the service back.
Sometimes, I am unable to disconnect. When this happens, I have to log off and then on again. (0 Replies)
SOLVED, thank you!
Edit2:
Good news everyone,
I managed to get it down to a "simple" problem, but I still have some syntax issues.
Here is the code which troubles me:
awk 'BEGIN{x2=0;x1=0;crit=0;}
$1 < 1000000 {x2=$4; diffx=x2-x1; x1=x2;
diffx > 3.6 ? {crit=1} : {crit=0};... (2 Replies)

Hey,
Now that I'm caught-up on a number of forum tasks, I can turn my attention to the next-generation UserCP (and learn VueJS) for the site.

catman.local
MAKEWHATIS.LOCAL(8) BSD System Manager's Manual MAKEWHATIS.LOCAL(8)NAME
makewhatis.local, catman.local -- start makewhatis or catman for local file systems
SYNOPSIS
/usr/libexec/makewhatis.local [options] directories ...
/usr/libexec/catman.local [options] directories ...
DESCRIPTION
The makewhatis.local utility starts makewhatis(1) only for file systems physically mounted on the system where the makewhatis.local is being
executed. Running makewhatis by periodic weekly for rw nfs-mounted /usr may kill your NFS server -- all NFS clients start makewhatis at the
same time! So use this wrapper for cron(8) instead of calling makewhatis directly. The catman.local utility is using for same purposes as
makewhatis.local but for catman(1).
FILES
/etc/periodic/weekly/320.whatis run makewhatis.local every week
/etc/periodic/weekly/330.catman run catman.local every week
SEE ALSO catman(1), find(1), makewhatis(1), cron(8), periodic(8)HISTORY
