I want to add a new virtual interface on HP-UX B.11.11 U 9000/800 box.
I know that ifconfig can be used to add the Virtual interface.
BUt i do not know the exact syntax. it some times gives plumb error if i try to add
# ifconfig vif0 10.1.10.1 up

I have configured a virtual interface using ifconfig on HP UX 11.11.
When i try to do traceroute with -i option i get * * * from traceroute.
i use $traceroute -i lan0:1 my-gateway
traceroute to my-gateway (15.70.180.1), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

I just wondering if there are ways to open multiple virtual terminal to a single LPAR.
After I have use putty to login to the VIOS. I will use mkvt -id <LPAR id> to open console but if my friend want to open 2 second one, it will say, VT already connected.

Hello, hopefully someone can help me out with this, I have created a virtual Ethernet adapter on the VIO but would like to add it to my new LPAR.
On my VIO only my disk is mapped.

dpkg-preconfigure - let packages ask questions prior to their installation
SYNOPSIS
dpkg-preconfigure [options] package.deb
dpkg-preconfigure --apt
DESCRIPTION
dpkg-preconfigure lets packages ask questions before they are installed. It operates on a set of debian packages, and all packages that
use debconf will have their config script run so they can examine the system and ask questions.
OPTIONS
-ftype, --frontend=type
Select the frontend to use.
-pvalue, --priority=value
Set the lowest priority of questions you are interested in. Any questions with a priority below the selected priority will be ignored
and their default answers will be used.
--terse
Enables terse output mode. This affects only some frontends.
--apt
Run in apt mode. It will expect to read a set of package filenames from stdin, rather than getting them as parameters. Typically this
is used to make apt run dpkg-preconfigure on all packages before they are installed. To do this, add something like this to
/etc/apt/apt.conf:
// Pre-configure all packages before
// they are installed.
