Reformatted Advanced UNIX.COM Search Page (Desktop)
Just enabled Bootstrap for the advanced forum search page (desktop view):
https://www.unix.com/search.php
That' page still needs work, and to be converted from <table> elements to <div> elements, and to be redesigned, but in the meantime, it's OK using Bootstrap CSS.
Note: Before, we had temporarily required guests to login to use the advanced search function because this page was "under revision" but now that the page is "OK" (first step of renovation, this update), I have opened the page up to all users (guests and members). If the advanced search page starts to get hammered with search bots again, I'll restrict the advanced search page to registered users (again).

Hi All,
I want to run a script that will search backwards through a text file until it finds a certain string, something like "Date/Time/Eng" and select a string which happens to be a date and save that as a variable.
The line will always be in the following exact format:

After experimenting with various Linux utilities like man2html and mandocs and other formats and software, none of them worked as well (or as clear) as by formatting by using PHP preg_replace() to add some CSS elements (wrappers) and then using the <pre> element combined with using jQuery to... FYI, today I moved the "Advanced Stats" page from the forum home page to the search results pages.
This means that at the top of the search results like "Today's Post" and "New Posts" and keyword searches, the stats will appear at the top of that page instead of the home page.
The reason of... (3 Replies)

For mobile users, I have just added a "first beta" Advanced Forum Statistics to the home page on mobile using CSS overflow:auto; so you can swipe if you need to see more. NAME
WWW::Search::Yahoo::News::Advanced - search Yahoo!News using the "advanced" interface
SYNOPSIS
use WWW::Search;
my $oSearch = new WWW::Search('Yahoo::News::Advanced');
my $sQuery = WWW::Search::escape_query("George Lucas");
$oSearch->date_from('7 days ago');
$oSearch->date_to ('now');
$oSearch->native_query($sQuery);
while (my $oResult = $oSearch->next_result())
print $oResult->url, "
";
DESCRIPTION
This class is a Yahoo! News specialization of WWW::Search. It handles making and interpreting searches on Yahoo! News
http://news.yahoo.com using the Advanced search interface.
This class exports no public interface; all interaction should be done through WWW::Search objects.
NOTES
This backend supports narrowing the search by date-range. Use date_from() and date_to() to set the endpoints of the desired date range.
You can use any date format supported by the Date::Manip module.
NOTE that Yahoo only seems to keep the last 60 days worth of news in its searchable index.
At one time, News.yahoo.com would die if the unescaped query is longer than 485 characters or so. This backend does NOT check for that.
SEE ALSO
To make new back-ends, see WWW::Search.
