In my experience changing swappiness settings rarely helps unless you are on a very legacy device. Have you tried looking in top? Or ps faux? Maybe posting some of their output here would help.

tail -n 50 -f output.log | grep 'type:system' | cut -f 5-
A sample line from the log file is:
1208894862 type:system session:0 severity:4 load started
the columns are tab delimited.

NAME
xfmpc - graphical GTK+ MPD client focusing on low footprint.
DESCRIPTION
Xfmpc is a MPD (Music Player Daemon) client, with focus on low footprint for the Xfce desktop environment.
ENVIRONMENT
MPD_HOST - Server Hostname.
MPD_PORT - Server Port.
USAGE
To connect to a remote machine set the environment variables MPD_HOST and MPD_PORT. See mpc(1) for more information
Default Keybindings
Go backward - Ctrl+B
Play/Pause -Ctrl+P
