Note also that on macOS, the grep utility only works on complete lines of text. If the text you selected does not include a <newline> character at the end of the line you selected, pbpaste will only output a partial line of output without a line terminating <newline> character.

So, this is weird... I'm running this command:
iotop -o -P -k -bt -d 5
I'd like to save the output relelvant to rsyslogd to a file, so I do this:
iotop -o -P -k -bt -d 5 | grep rsyslogd >> /var/log/rsyslogd
Nothing is written to the file! I can write the full output to the file:

is a text formatter. Its input consists of the text to be out-
put, intermixed with formatting commands. A formatting command
is a line containing the control character followed by a two
character command name, and possibly one or more arguments. The
control character is initially . (dot). The formatted output is

A + before n means it may be signed, indicating a positive or
negative change from the current value. Initial values for where

.ar Arabic page numbers.
.br Line break. Subsequent text will begin on a new line.
